Bell the Cat with mouse

The first online Common Admission Test (CAT) for the IIMs and other premier management colleges begin with initial hiccups. Its making news for all the wrong reasons.Failure of server, delay, virus attacks etc. Some students having their degree exams too, it must be horrible time for them.
I think students must be given flexibility in when to take the tests. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test, to assess the potential of students seeking admission in universities in the US or other part of world is online and round the year. This test is, however, paper based in a few countries. The GRE subject tests, paper-based worldwide, are held thrice a year. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) too is computer based. The test is conducted through the year and hence gives students several options from which to choose a convenient date. So is the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). These tests are given 30-50 times a year on pre-determined dates at different centers across the globe.
I think the best way to follow is the best practice (as in software world they say), make it throughout the year, make fewer centers which having good internet/power/technician support.
If students facing problem in metros like Delhi and Bangalore, god knows how they are dealing with other places.
